Day 2: Pumpkin, Goat cheese and proscuitto quiche

Last weekend, my girlfriend her grandfather gave me a lot of vegetables of his garden. Because my and her grandfathers always give us so many things, I wanted to honor them with this week. The last – and the next – days I always make something with those vegetables. Yesterday I made a delicious quiche.

What do you need? 1 sheet of shortcrust pastry, 5 eggs, 300ml of milk, 3 slices of proscuitto, half a zucchini, 250 gr pumpkin, 2 green peppers, 150 gr Goat cheese, a bit of sage, 3 Tsp Gruyere cheese, pepper

What do you do? Preheat the oven on 200°C. Take a cake mould. Roll out the puff pastry. Place the pastry in the mould. Prick with a fork in the pastry.

Chop all the vegetables. Grate the pumpkin. Stir 4 eggs with the milk and the pepper. Then, just have a look at the following pictures. Keep one egg aside.

Before I placed the quiche in the oven, I brushed the crust with egg. This is how you get a nice colored crust.

After 45 minutes, take it out of the oven. Enjoy!

It’s really a dish made with things from my grandfathers: pumpkin, eggs, zucchini, peppers and sage are all ingredients they have in their garden! I hope you like it.

This recipe is also my participation for the foodblogevent of September 2012. More information about the foodblogevent, you can find here: foodblogevent 2012 (Dutch)
