Reistip: Eén etmaal in BrusselBrussels in 24 hours

Daarna trokken we richting Sint-Katelijne.

A month ago I stayed 24 hours in the capital of Europe (and my country): Brussels. In one day I tried to discover as much as possible this city. Pretty interesting to discover your own capital, I admit.

On Saturday we tried to see as much as possible. Ow I forget, it’s a foodie tour. We started in Café Métropole with a coffee. This building is an old hotel from the 19th century. It’s really beautiful. With the caffeine of the coffee we had enough energy to conquer the neighborhood of Sint-Katelijne. We went to Crèmerie de Linkebeek for cheese, Champigros for some good mushrooms and the Noordzee to see all the fish. We visited the Chinese supermarket and for one minute I had the feeling I was in China. We went to the Baksteenkaai for a very good ice cream in Comus, a very good ice cream maker. Last but not least we bought some delicious cookies in Maison Dandoy. Just before we went back to the hotel, we drunk something in De Monk, a very cool café.

We stayed in the great hotel next to the Brussels South Station, Pullman Hotel. It’s a beautiful building with a great entrance hall and very nice rooms. We enjoyed the diner in their Italian-French restaurant and ended our busy day with a delicious glass of wine. In the morning we enjoyed a great delicious breakfast. After this we still had to do one thing. Just a couple of meters of the hotel there is a big food market every Sunday morning. It’s an impressive market and you really feel like being somewhere in the South of Europe. Olives, Jerusalem artichokes, feta, zucchini, tomatoes, mint, mango, we bought too much.

Conclusion: Brussels is a grat city and our capital has a lot to offer.

Thanks to Pullman Hotel for the night and the great stay.
